Thomas Wright

1922 - 2016

Thomas Wright was born July 18, 1922, in Parton, England to William and Isabel Wright and passed away at his home on July 16, 2016. He came to the U.S. in 1923 to Rock Springs, Wyoming where they stayed four years and then back to England. When he was five they moved back to Wyoming where he went to school as his father worked in the coal mines. His mom worked in a hospital laundry. His parents moved to Laramie when he was a freshman in high school. He completed his freshman year and moved back to Rock Springs. His dad worked as an oil driller in a machine shop. He graduated high school in 1940, then moved to Bremerton, Washington. He went to work in the Navy Shipyard as a welder. He met his wife Sue, at a roller rink and married her on September 24, 1942. He was in the US Navy from 1943-1946. They moved to Marysville, Wash. in 1947 and he joined the Plumber and Pipefitters Local 26 in 1952 (64 year member) and retired in 1982. He was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend, Sue Wright on May 19, 2002, after 59 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter, Gail Pugh and husband, Les; his son, William Wright and wife, Elizabeth; grandchildren, Scott Pugh and wife, Nancy, Marti Burdett and husband, Ted, Thomas Wright and wife, Marianna, and Cindy Heatherly; seven great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchildren, and caregiver/friend, Lorraine. The family will gather for a private graveside service at a later date.
