Timothy Basto Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 25, 2024.
Timothy Hubbard Basto, known affectionately as Tim, passed away on June 8, 2024, at the age of 41, in Northampton, Massachusetts. Born on January 9, 1983, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Tim grew up in a close-knit family and attended Pelham Elementary School followed by Amherst Regional High School.

Tim's career at YoYo Expert in Easthampton, MA, was marked by his dedication and enthusiasm, which mirrored his approach to life. He was known for his infectious laugh and love for playing pranks, especially on his mother. Tim was always ready to engage in discussions about world news and politics, and he possessed a remarkable knowledge of moths and butterflies, a testament to his love for nature.

Outside of work, Tim was an avid gamer and cherished his online friendships. He was a passionate fan of the Red Sox and Patriots, and he found peace in exploring nature, with a particular fondness for the ocean. Tim also had a special place in his heart for cats, especially his cat Ike.

Tim leaves behind his mother and step-father, Mary Jane and Mark Sullivan of Whately, MA; his father, Ronald Basto of Portland, CT; and his brother, Jonathan Basto of Northampton, MA. He is also survived by his step-sisters, Sarah Sullivan and her husband Jason Lizotte of Greenfield, MA, and Anna W.S. Palmer and her husband Matt of Hinsdale, NH. His step- grandmother, Sue Vogt, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and a nephew, will miss him dearly. Grandparents Edwin and Elizabeth Hubbard predeceased him earlier.

A celebration of Tim's life will be held privately by the family at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the MSPCA in memory of Tim.

The Czelusniak Funeral Home of Northampton, Massachusetts, is assisting the family with arrangements. Tim's legacy of laughter, kindness, and curiosity will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
