Thinking back on my time with Tim, my heart swells with emotion. His dedication to helping others, his infectious smile, and his adventurous spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His commitment to making a difference, his ability to bring joy with just a grin, and his love for exploration touched countless lives. Tim wasn't just a friend; he was a beacon of light, a source of laughter, and an embodiment of adventure. The memories we shared are precious, each one a testament to his impact on our lives.

Tim and I joined the Order of Malta together in 2013. I met Kathleen on 1 of our several trips to Lourdes with the Order. My heart is broken. My prayers are with Kathleen and the family. I know that Tim is watching over them from his triumphant place in heaven.
Rest in Peace Tim.

I can't help but smile when I think of the times spent with our dear friend Tim, sitting on the balcony, smoking a good cigar and talking.....
What a great friend we lost. Very seldom you meet someone who leaves such a deep impression on you.
Tim, our good friend was one of them.
His big heart touched everyone, he had a positive impact on those he engaged with-in every corner of the world.
We met forty years ago as neighbors in Charlotte, and soon became very close friends and shared wonderful times over the years. Our friendship remained strong even when we moved to Europe, and we continued to enjoy many good times together!
Tim will be missed and kept in our hearts - always.

To Kathleen and Family,
Our hearts are heavy with sadness for this news of Tim's passing; but we'll always remember the way "Mr. and Mrs. Wonderful" served so faithfully in Lourdes! Tim and Kathleen, you've given us so many wonderful memories these many years! Please be assured of many prayers for your intentions and for the blessed repose of Tim's immortal soul!

Tim was one of a kind. There are not enough positive and outstanding adjectives to describe him, but these come immediately to mind: incredibly funny, smart, generous, kind, handsome, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will always be remembered and sorely
missed.

What incredible luck I had to stumble across Mr Wonderful, his fabulous wife, and their daughter's innumerable boxes on our first day at St Andrews. In a world pre-social media, Tim embodied and radiated all that my young mind could ever have imagined an impressive, gregarious American man to be. Such an idea may seem silly but I'm sure it is something Tim did again and again for hundreds, if not thousands, of young people around the world who had the great fortune of meeting him. (Indeed the State Department would have done well to have put the man and his lovable voice on a retainer...)

Tim's kindness, generosity and humour shaped all of us who were lucky enough to count his children - and by extension the whole Hessert-Gunderman clan - as our friends. Few parents know so many of their children's college friends as well as Tim and Kathleen have, and they remain role models to us all.

There are no words for the loss that Papa Gundy leaves in the world; however, I am confident that Meghann, Christopher, Kathleen and the rest of their beautiful family will fill the hole with love, gratitude, and a million and one incredible stories of Tim and all the crazy joy he brought to the world.

Just last year in 2023, he and his wife Kathleen hosted me, along with Jolson and Dee, for dinner at a very expensive restaurant during our stay in Florida. It was a memorable experience that I will never forget. He was a wonderful man who loved jokes and people. He and Kathleen hosted us as if they had known us forever, taking us to places and showing us around Florida, giving us gifts, and offering career advice. I remember when I was returning to Tanzania, he gave me a book as a parting gift. Tim, I will never forget you

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I heard great things about Tim and Kathy when Bernadette and Gary visited in Florida. They stopped in Ocala for lunch and catch up on news. If Tim was anything like Bernadette then I know that he too was a beautiful man.

I´ve known Kathy since college and there never was a more dynamic person so we knew, when we met Tim, that her pick had to be someone special. His story telling kept us enthralled! I´ve kept touch through this last year and prayed daily for his recovery but now know that Kathy has one of the most incredible guardian angels there ever was!
