Timothy Patton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 20, 2024.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Timothy Andrew Patton, August 25, 2024, at St. James Hospital in Hornell, NY, after a 40-year long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born January 30, 1959 in North Hornell, NY, to the late Laverne E. Patton, Sr. and Suzanne M. (Ribble) Hoolihan of Mooresville, NC.

Timmy grew up in Alfred Station, NY, graduating from Alfred-Almond Central School in 1977 and from Ohio Diesel Technical Institute in Cleveland, OH in 1979. He worked for Patton's Busy Bee Disposal Service and Railroad Valley Recycling Center before becoming an over-the-road truck driver. He was diagnosed with cancer in his leg when he was 27 yrs-old which left him disabled. He endured many surgeries and hospital stays, but never lost his faith in God. He was a hard worker and never let anything stand in his way.

He lived most of his adult life in Arkport, NY before moving to NC to live with his mother. He recently moved back to Hornell, NY where he maintained his own apartment with the help of Venture Forthe, Inc., allowing him to live independently again. The family is indebted to those who helped him every day.

He was a fan of NASCAR and Drag Strip Racing. He cherished his 1969 yellow Challenger, racing it at the Leicester Raceway. Even with his disability, he was always willing to help someone who needed help whether it be mowing a lawn, shoveling a driveway or running errands for an elderly neighbor. He loved watching basketball, baseball and the Kansas City Chiefs football team. He was very proud of his daughters and did everything he could to make sure they had the best of everything. He loved his daughters very, very much.

He is survived by his mother and two daughters; Nicole Marie (Roman) Minturn of Kansas City, MO, Jessica Marie(Dustin Updyke) Patton of Jasper NY; his sisters Sandra (Ned) Carlson of Erie, PA, and Cynthia Patton of Olean, NY; a brother Laverne (Skip) Patton, Jr. (Babs) of Mooresville, NC and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his father and sister Judith Patton House; paternal grandparents Dale and Florence Patton; maternal grandparents Arthur and Mildred Ribble, Ted and Mary Swanke, several uncles, a cousin and also by his beloved cat Thomas.

Timmy will be missed by his family and many friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family. Contributions in Timmy's memory may be made to the Wilmot Cancer Center, 601 Elmwood Avenue, Rochester, NY 14642. A monumental headstone will be placed in the Almond Cemetery next to his maternal grandparents.

Tim someone keeps removing my posts off here. But you and I know that it doesn't change how we felt. I miss you and love you and still is difficult not hearing your voice everyday. Love you now and forever

I worked with Tim as a lymphedema therapist for about a year. Tim worked hard at physical therapy and he always came in with a smile. I'll remember Tim as more of a friend instead of a patient, he was a great man.
