Timothy Suffern Obituary

BRANFORD - Timothy Eugene Suffern, 62, of Branford, formerly of Avon Street, New Haven, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at the Connecticut Hospice of Branford. He was the beloved husband of Janette Cappucci Suffern and devoted father of Leah Suffern.

Tim was born in Suffern, N.Y. on Oct. 25, 1953, son of the late Betty Grindrod and Stanley Suffern. He received his bachelor of science degree, summa cum laude from Syracuse University, and had worked as a teacher for the New Haven Public School system until he retired in 2014.

He was the beloved brother of Rod (Brenda) Suffern of Central Valley, N.Y.; and brother-in-law of Adele (Paul) Booth of Gaithersburg, Md., Jane (Robert) Casagrande, of Matawan, N.J., and Marcia (Tom) Zwiesler, of Ellington. He was the loving uncle of Sara (Kris) Marquez, Brittany (Ryan) Hascoat, Kurt Timothy Suffern, Matthew and Camille Booth, Connor and William Casagrande, Zachary and Jessie Zwiesler. He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephew, Kennedy Marquez, Haylee, Aubrey and Cameron Hascoat. Tim was predeceased by his in-laws, Dr. Louis and Angela Cappucci; as well as, his great-niece and nephew, Santana and Emmanuel Marquez. Tim was a trained classical guitarist, self-taught Tai Chi master, and avid enthusiast of music, nature, travel, hiking, reading and baseball.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the staff of Connecticut Hospice for the exemplary care, comfort and respect they provided to Tim.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Hillhouse Ave., New Haven, on Saturday, July 16. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice of Branford, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
