Toby Fisher Obituary
Born on January 9, 1947, in Ingleside, Illinois, Toby was a National Merit Scholar who pursued a triple major at Beloit College. She dedicated much of her career to public service in public aid, where she met her husband, Michael Fisher. Later, she found joy as the resident properties mistress at Apple Tree Theatre.
Toby had a deep love for reading, music, theatre, and politics. She cherished her daughters, Margot and Jessica, and had a lifelong affection for animals, especially her beloved dogs.
She is survived by her daughters Margot and Jessica; her dog Emmy; her brother Thomas; and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband Michael and her parents, Miriam and Jerome Gurewitz.
A memorial gathering will be held on March 5, 2025, at Kol Hadash/North Shore Unitarian Church in Deerfield, Illinois, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with visitation following at the Fisher residence in Libertyville from 3:30PM to 7PM. In honor of Toby's love for animals and education, donations may be made to The Catcade Cat Rescue and Lounge, The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois, or Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation.

It was a pleasure to have been "found" by Toby after so many years post-Beloit. Although unable to reconnect in person, we spoke and messaged about things, people, and situations that mattered. She will be remembered and missed.

I got to know your Mom over the past year as our weekly visits took us on many errands. We shared memories & stories, each of our own families. I appreciated her wit & humor!
Her love for her husband, daughters, Emmy, & previous pets shone through as she spoke of each with true affection.
I know she will be truly missed, but will always live on in the hearts of those who knew & loved her.

Toby and I have been friends for more years than we can even believe! We shared so many laughs, tears and worries as our children grew and our lives changed, but we always held each other in our hearts. She was a talented, sensitive and expressive person and I will remember her with love and miss her forever.
