Toby Gold Obituary
Arizona: Died February 5th, 2015, of lung cancer in Sun City West, Arizona, at the age of 70. Toby was an active member of the Rochester arts and media community. He came to Rochester in 1975 as Arts Director for the Jewish Community Center. In 1977 he was hired as Arts Critic for WROC-TV and as a talk show host for WPXN-AM, beginning a decade-long career in local media. Toby was best known as WHEC-TV's Action Reporter; he also acted in community theater and was a union officer for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. In 1986, Toby quit smoking and went to work as a Special Events Coordinator for the American Lung Association. He married Dr. Joyce DuBrin in 1992, and they retired to Arizona in 2005. Toby is survived by his loving wife Joyce; his son Aaron Gold [Robin Gold]; stepsons Drew DuBrin [Heidi Kaufman] and Douglas DuBrin [Gizella Meneses]; and grandchildren Rosie, Clare, Robert, Andrew, Camila, Sofia, and Julian.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I worked with Toby at Catholic Family Center and really enjoyed him. Was just reminiscing about him recently and then heard the news. My best to his family.

I was very sad to hear about Toby's passing. I have such nice memories of him from childhood--especially our fascinating (to me, anyway!) conversations about theatre, and the way he encouraged me. We are thinking of you and love you so much. I remember Toby telling us a little about some of his background, but it sounds like there are probably many great stories. In Toby style, he always spent more time asking us about our lives than sharing stories about his! Hugs and love....Michelle, Kevin and Johnny.
