Todd Van Roosendaal Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 23, 2025.
Todd M Van Roosendaal Todd M Van Roosendaal born July 13, 1956 in California and died June 28, 2025 near Taos, NM. Following high school, Todd left home to live with his father in California where learned the trade of Estimator. From there he moved to Colorado where he started, and ran, a business making commercial wood cabinetry. Wanting to escape to a simpler life, Todd found Taos, NM and made it his home. He settled in an "off the grid" community outside of Taos where he could explore the area to his heart's content. Todd considered himself a traveler in the mystic sense where he would explore the world and meet other travelers in his journey. He believed that he would continue on in his journey after his physical body was no longer useful.

His mother wrote this about Todd:

I was away from my family and pretty scared. But this new life wasn't scared at all. Another blond, blue-eyed, beautiful baby boy was born. Contrary to my first birth experience, I was wide awake and barely made it to the hospital before giving birth. They hardly had time to find a doctor, let alone do much toward getting ready.

It was made evident early on that this was a force to be reckoned with.

Oh, Yea...

He was not to be ignored.

A whirlwind was here.

Todd took his world by storm.

His young mother was there to love him,

Try to protect him and tell him

what to do, but he did it his way.

Our mother knew Todd the minute he was born.

Todd was a wonderful son, brother and friend to those he let into his circle. He'll be missed dearly but he will remain in our hearts.

Todd is survived by his step-father Dick Gohman (Pat), brothers Mark, Kirk (Al) and Brad (Amy Winder).
