Todd Wood Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 7, 2024.
Todd A. Wood, son, brother, uncle, a caring, faithful friend to all who knew him, talented artist, avid golfer and fisherman died on Thursday, October 3, 2024 in his Spokane home.

He leaves his sweetheart and gentle caretaker through this battle, Marie Shine; his mother, Judie Wood; brother, Tim Wood; sisters, Tracey Peloquin (Mike) and Debbie Stiles (Ted), nephews Zack Stiles, Stinson Ott, Alex Peloquin, niece Kaylee Stiles and stepdaughter, Alexis Murphy, as well as numerous close friends that became family over the years.

Born in Richland, Washington on August 18, 1961. Todd always had a passion for baseball he began with Richland Little League and continued to play at Chief Jo Junior High, Richland High School and on to college ball at Big Bend CC and Eastern Washington University. His love for baseball continued into several men's softball teams with friends through the years. His competitive spirit was apparent in golf, baseball, softball, shut the box dice and any challenge given.

Also a talented artist he created sketches of favorite ball players, animals, and cartoon sketches of his "Cow Palace" roommates at EWU. Todd used his artistic flair and became a graphic artist and created many business logos, pamphlets, menus and web page design as a freelance artist. Todd was given the task of recreating the Gonzaga Bulldog mascot to what it is today.

After Todd graduated from

EWU, he spent time working in the Seattle area in various computer and technology related jobs. Eventually, he found his way back to Spokane and never left.

Todd used his keen eye for design and was a handyman. He would often help friends and family with paint colors or remodeling jobs. His pride and joy was his own home on Manito CC which he dedicated a great deal of time renovating and was once featured in Spokane Magazine. He continued to make design changes to this home until late this summer.

Although Todd had his eyes on Marie for over 20 years; it wasn't until about 18 months ago they found each other and began their beautiful, loving life together filled with travel to Priest Lake, Cabo, Maui, and San Diego. Todd often referred to her as his sweetheart. Marie dedicated her time to his care whether it was doctor visits, consultations, hospital stays and finally at home during his hospice care.

Todd is preceded in death by his father, Teddie Wood; his grandparents; and his sister-in-law, Lois.

Played baseball with Todd at Eastern. He was a solid second baseman with good power the other way. Has been a good friend since the 80s. Really enjoyed our golf matches later in life. Rest in Peace Wood Doctor. Gone to soon. Love ya brother. Mac #8

As cousins who saw each other maybe once or twice a year growing up it was almost always at "the cabin" in Montana, fishing Cedar Creek was a high priority, scary stories at night and just hanging out with the only other Wood family I ever really knew.
He and his siblings were all like little brothers and sisters to me.
Todd was always trying to keep up!
As we grew up we saw each other less and less, eventually we reached back out to each other and became trash talking buddies, I have always admired his gentle spirit knowing there was a competitive man of iron inside who was so very talented.
We´d finally gotten to that point in life where we could visit more often and reminisce and tell lies about big fish and incredible golf shots.
We will all miss him, he was an absolute individual and a man of the highest caliber and talent.
