SEXTON, Sr., Tolbert P. TOLBERT P. SEXTON, SR. "Toby Sexton", age 84, died Tuesday, June 3, of complications of congestive heart failure. His gracious manner, generous spirit and deep love and devotion to his family and friends will be sorely missed. Toby Sexton was born on May 10, 1930 in Atlanta, GA to the late Alton and Lillie Mae Sexton. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Robertson Sexton. Toby graduated from Bass High School and attended both the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech. He founded Toby Sexton Tire, Co., specializing in aircraft, off-the-road and industrial tires. Toby was a Master Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. He served several terms as president of the Atlanta Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association and was inducted into the Metro Atlanta Tire Dealer Hall of Fame. Toby was a past president of East Lake Golf Club, and also served as a Past State President of the Georgia Elks Association, having been a member of the BPOE #78 for sixty years. He served on the Board of Trustees of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and was a longtime member of Briarlake Baptist Church in Decatur. Toby's most satisfying role for the last thirty years was being "PawPaw" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a devoted supporter of all their sports, school and church activities. Every grandchild will tell you they were PawPaw's favorite. Toby is survived by his daughter, Tami S. Ball (Bob) of Atlanta and sons, Toby Sexton, Jr. "Tobin" (Lynn) of Stone Mountain, Tony Sexton (Shelly) of Loganville, Tim Sexton (Sharon) of Grayson, and Ted Sexton (Debbie) of Snellville; grandchildren Hailey Kercher, Mark Kercher, Holland Kercher, Anna S. I am grateful that I was able to know Toby Sexton. He was a kind and generous man. When I was a teenager, my dad (Jack) would take me to his tire store to get tires when I needed them. I will always remember the reunions in his beautiful home. David Gamadanis

We grew up together and our families always lived close together in Atlanta. Tolbert was 6 months older than me and we had many happy times playing games with neighbor kids. Played Monopoly all day on the porch when it rained. I always tried to see him when I visited my family every year. Find peace in knowing he lived a wonderful life.
