PERLICH _ Tony Passed away suddenly and peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2002, Tony Perlich of Lethbridge at the age of 69 years, well-loved father, and for forty years, the beloved husband of Joanne Perlich. Tony Perlich was born in Raymond in 1933 to Ivan and Mary Perlich of Croatia. In 1967, with his brother Joe Perlich, Tony established Perlich Bros. Auction Market Ltd. on Broxburn Road just east of Lethbridge. A longtime auctioneer, Tony Perlich was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1490, a former Vice-President of the Lethbridge Exhibition, and a Past President of the Auctioneer's Association of Alberta for which he was honoured for forty years of service in 2001. In 2001, Tony was inducted into the Kainai Chieftainship as an Honourary Chief of the Blood Tribe. A great passion in Tony's life were his race horses, and days spent with his friends at the track. He served on the Board of the Alberta Quarter Horse Racing Association. Tony enjoyed the ranch west of Claresholm, which had been in his wife's family for three generations. He spent many good days on the ranch, checking his cattle, and the rain gauge. Besides his loving wife Joanne, Tony is survived by his son David of Calgary; as well as daughter Nancy, daughter Jeanne and her husband Brett White, all of Lethbridge. They will miss their father very much. Tony is also survived by his sister Rose Niedermier of Lethbridge; sister-in-law Katie Perlich; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Tony was predeceased by his parents, Ivan and Mary Perlich, brothers, Joe Perlich and Bill Perlich, sister Iva Perlich, and his wife's parents, Henry and Marjorie Sharples. Those who wish may pay their respects between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 in Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 2405 - 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will begin at 8:00 p.m. A brief reception will follow at the parish hall. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2002 in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, 318 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge with Father Bill MacDonald and Father Tim Boyle con-celebrating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, 1011 - 2 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 0C8; the Canadian Cancer Society, 317 - 10 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2M7; or the "Joanne Perlich Endowment Foundation" of the Lethbridge Handicapped Riding Association, SS1 - 2 - 101, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4B3.
