Tracey Cochran Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 17, 2024.
Tracey Sue Cochran (née Schotanus, formerly Reimers), 66, passed away on November 13, 2024, in Puyallup, WA. Born on September 27, 1958, in Libertyville, IL, Tracey lived a life full of love, compassion, and service to others.

Tracey is preceded in death by her husband, John; her brother, Joel (Denise); and her parents, Ana Mae and William. She is survived by her sons, Jeremy (Kristin) and Erik (Nickie); her beloved granddaughter, Keller, who was her everything; and her two step-granddaughters, Jasmine and Addison. Tracey is also survived by her two sisters, Lynn (John) and Cheryl (Bill); her ex-husband, Gary; her stepchildren, Kyle, Kaley, and John Jr; and many nieces and nephews.

Tracey's greatest joys in life were her granddaughter, Keller, with whom she spent the last decade living nearby, and her passion for making people happy through her cooking. She dedicated much of her life to running kitchens in nursing homes, bringing nourishment and care to others. In recent years, she shared her kindness with customers while working at REI.

Tracey brought light and joy to everyone she met. Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jeremy's in-laws, Erich and Cindy Keller, who loved and cared for her like their own sibling; and to Ming Hsiao, ARNP, whose exceptional care gave them two additional years with her. Special thanks also go to Annie, Romeo, and the staff at Silver Creek Adult Family Home for their excellent care, love, and support in her final days.

Memorial services will be announced via Facebook and are planned to take place in Illinois or Wisconsin, where Tracey spent most of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to two charities that share her generous spirit, Michelle's Love (michelleslove.org) and New Hope Resource Center (tnhrc.org).

I worked with Tracey and she was a really considerate, warm person who mentioned her Granddaughter a lot. She is missed.

There are so many cherished memories we have when we consider the nearly 30 years we have known Tracey. Our mutual love of our kids and grandkids; Camping, karaoke, and rainy wind storms at Jelly Stone; Saturday morning brunch is Kenosha; Way too many graduation, wedding, holiday and birthday celebrations to list; and of course, all those games of Mexican Train. You are loved and missed, Tracey, but never forgotten. Our love and condolences go out to the family. You are truly in our thoughts and prayers. --Erich and Cindy Keller
