Our Eternal Lost
------- Recalling the life story of my beloved sister Tracy Cui
Dear friends and relatives, ladies and gentlemen,
Today, with feelings of deep sorrow, we come here to pay tribute and bid farewell to our loved one, Tracy Cui. At this very moment, I shall share her story with everyone here, and reflect with reverence and feel the love, warmth, thoughts and care that she had left behind.
Looking back on the years, my sister demonstrated her love, responsibility, dedication, hard work, perseverance and kindness in her 66-years of journey through life.
At the start of my sister's life story, we see a truly extraordinary person: in 1970 she graduated from Qingdao First High School to work in 1974, at the age of 23, she embarked on a leadership position, becoming a leader of young people in that era. In 1976, she was elected National Model Worker of the Ministry of Electronics Industry of the People's Republic of China and was invited to Beijing for cordial reception by state leaders. Subsequently, the Shandong Provincial Newspaper reported about her exemplary story in the front page article, "The Sharp Edged Blade Will Never Dull", which distributed her personal story to China. In 1980 she became the assistance factory manager of an electronic Tuner factory in Qingdao, China, with more than a thousand workers. My sister was a model worker that exemplified young people in China in the 1970s and 1980s, and she was often invited to share her know how to business schools and major government agencies. Her deeds and spirits have inspired countless young people to grow and become a leader in the new reform era in China.
Not long ago, my sister went to the Qingdao Municipal Archives to attend a media activity, where she saw the official collection of Tracy's still displayed there, she was shown to carefully tutoring two young workers how to operate a machine in a large photo. My Sister was very excited and immediately told me about this news; our family was deeply moved with pride and joy.
Dedication is the true meaning of life. On the land that gave birth to her, Tracy's legacy endures, though a journey of excellence, her youth and demeanor, dedication and love, have been permanently enshrined in history.
In 1989, after traveling thousands of miles, my cousin Tracy brought her one and only 10-year-old son Calvin to the United States. At this strange and fascinating land, she started up another life.
In this 28-year journey, Tracy built a new life with her hard work, love and wisdom. She brought up two sons Calvin and David and supported them though college and beyond. She had told me before her passing that her two sons had made her feel relieved and happy. Through David and Calvin Tracy's legacy lives on.
At the same time, my Cousin Tracy was also actively involved in community work, enthusiastic, her bold personality, warm smile, caring heart, warm and touching to everyone around her.
I remember when I first arrived here in the United States; Tracy not only took me personally to participate in local community gathering, but also taught me how to do shopping and many other details of life. She was always warm, thoughtful, careful, and I was deeply touched. While she was seriously ill, she was still optimistic and strong and personally took me to the two Chinese-language schools where she had worked and felt the long history of Chinese culture.
Tracy expressed deep passion for China, United States and everyone here. In my mind, she is a hero, a shining example of my life. Her kindness, her diligence, her calmness and courage in the face of illness inspired me; her attitude in times of difficulty, high moral value and unyielding will; and her sunshine and beautiful smile as bright as the sun and the moon, will always be with me.
Though you may have passed on, your spirit will forever be with us.
Here, please allow me to present our highest honor and deepest condolences and memory to our family on behalf of my husband, my nearly ninety-year-old father, my sister and my brothers, to our loved one and my dear cousin Tracy Cui.
Tracy, you are on the paradise road with flowers, sunshine and eternal joy, I hope your example can inspire us! Please rest in peace! Your life has become a part of our treasured memories, we will miss you forever!
God is with you! Our love will always be with you!
