Travis Bass Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 8, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Travis Leo Bass on October 16, 2024, at the age of 71. Travis was born on February 19, 1953, in Merced, CA to Leo and Gladys (nee Lee) Bass.

The family moved to Brighton, Colorado when Travis was a teenager. Upon graduation from high school, Travis joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. While serving in the U.S. Army, Travis competed in military boxing matches across Europe. After his military service, Travis worked as a printing press operator. He then obtained his contractor's license and worked in construction until he retired.

Travis met the love of his life, Barbara Beckwith Bass, moved to San Diego, and was happily married for 39 years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, sons Dale Bass, Tucker Bass, daughter-in-law Christiana Updegraff, two 2 grandchildren, brother Mike Bass and his wife, Sheila and brother John Bass and his wife Mari Kay, and sisters Trina Bass and Tina Bass Pralle, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Travis was known for his calm demeanor, quick wit, intelligence, ability to build and fix anything, and his love of family, friends, baseball, fishing, hunting and road trips. Travis' last trip was fishing in Colorado with his brothers Mike and John, brother-in-law Ron Bailey and friends. A celebration of life will be planned in the spring in Colorado.

"Fare you well, I love you more than words can tell."

Travis and i worked together in San Diego for about 10 years. Travis got me into deer and elk hunting with his Dad , brothers and the rest of his family and friends. They were some of the best memories as a young man and Trav and I went fishing in the San Diego kelp beds off Shelter island a lot.
I truly miss Travis, his dad Leo, wife Barb, John, Kevin, Mike, Ron and the swat team from Merced. I can't believe it's been so many years ago.
Somebody out there still owes me an Elk. I hunt every year when i get drawn in Arizona but still haven't shot one............Lots of deer though.
I hope someone will reach out to me just to say hi and share some old and new stories.

Take care Barb, and good luck to everyone.

I miss you T-Bone.
