Travis Carroll Clark

Travis Carroll Clark was born on December 18, 1966 in Houston, Texas. He graduated from W. B. Ray High School Corpus Christi, Texas in 1984.

Travis died of an aortic aneurysm Thursday morning, October 12, 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Krista McMurtry Clark; his children Dylan Marley Clark (Mary) and Elissa Nicole Clark; his mother, Susan Slocum, step-father Freddy McLain, and siblings Nathan and Ramona McLain.

Travis learned to play guitar from his stepfather Freddy McLain. In the late 1980's he played bass for a local reggae band, the Hi-Tops. After moving to Nashville, he recorded and toured for several years with his father, Guy Clark.

He was a devoted and loving husband and father whose sense of humor and generosity will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Old Hickory Presbyterian Church in Old Hickory, Tennessee.

Hi Travis. I 'found' your father, Guy, just a few years ago and was mad at myself at the time for not having discovered him much sooner since I am also a musician. However, better late than never . . .what a talent! I also came across a video of both you and your dad performing, you playing bass, and I loved it. So, although I only met you fairly recently, I wish you a belated RIP and a hope that I will meet you in the Great Hereafter sometime in the future!

I didn't know that Travis was joining his Father's Band in that Devine venue!

Wow, it's now 2024 and being a fan of your dad, I was just watching video of his 1994 Kerrville Folk Festival performance. I just learned you are his son and that was you accompanying him on bass guitar at that festival! I'm so sad that when I searched for you on the web, I learned that you had passed seven years ago. May you rest in eternal peace. My condolences to your family.

Just checking out Guy on Pandora, thought of Travis. What a neighbor. Had no idea he had passed. Friendliest man you´d ever meet. So glad we had that opportunity to be friends, another one I´ll miss dearly.

I knew Travis through junior high and high school. I adored him always and have only warm memories of him as a good friend and a gentleman. I met up with him in San Francisco when he came through touring with his dad, where he told me about the love of his life back home in Tennessee. May his memory be a blessing to the family he adored and left behind.

I first met Travis in honors algebra at Hamlin Middle School. Travis, Darrell and I hated homework and were notorious for not turning in our assignments. Travis still aced all the tests despite his transgressions ( I was less fortunate ). He was funny, smart, witty and kind. He was with me at Cantina Santa Fe when I picked up my future wife Jen and joked I was bush league vs Jen. His rye smile and wit will be sadly missed. To all his family and loved ones all I can say is I was lucky to know Travis and I send all my love, thoughts and prayers to you at this difficult time. Much love Camp and Jen Cuthrell

I remember going to the Listening Post in Corpus Christi, Texas behind Sound Vibrations and Freddy McLain was there to sing and introduced his step-son Travis to sing a duet for everyone. it was definitely a memorable evening. It doesn't seem that long ago because I remember it like it was yesterday. Very sad to lose such a talented artist.

Travis Clark will be missed. A man that brightened every room when he arrived. Always a good healthy laugh was to be had. My prayers for all that remain to know in your hearts that Travis will be watching over and waiting for you.
