Travis Lee Downey
March 14, 1973 - October 25, 2021
Boise, Idaho - Travis Lee Downey passed away peacefully on October 25, 2021 at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho following a year-long battle with colon cancer.
Travis was a lifelong resident of Idaho. He was born in McCall on March 14, 1973 to Shannon (Boos) and Kenneth F. Downey and lived in New Meadows until his family moved to Boise when he was 11. He graduated from Borah High School in 1991. After working a variety of jobs, Travis found his career at the Boise Independent School District where he was a beloved member of the maintenance department for 24 years.
He married Rebecca (Dean) Wilson in 2006 and helped raise her three children from a previous marriage: Mariah Cheintel Wilson, Billy Carol Wilson III, and Jeremiah Nathanael Wilson. Becky and Travis divorced in 2014.
Travis enjoyed hiking and camping, and had a chihuahua companion named Hans Solo. He enjoyed many forms of music, but he LOVED listening to and playing heavy metal on his guitar. He was a talented photographer and was building a photography business which he hoped to pursue after he retired.
Travis was a good man who tried to always do the right thing. He was a member of the Restored Community Church and had a strong faith. He was at peace with his diagnosis and was ready to be called home. He stated that if it were possible in the hereafter, he planned to get back to doing all the things his illness had prevented him from doing!
Travis was predeceased by his mother and step-father, Shannon and Neil Fausey. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Kenneth and Karen Downey of Council, brother Jason Downey, nephew Ryan Downey, and niece Maliah Downey, all of Boise.
Arrangements are under the care of Cloverdale Funeral Home. There will be a viewing Friday evening, November 5, from 6-9 p.m. at Cloverdale Funeral Home and services on Saturday, November 6, 11:00 a.m., at Restored Community Church in Boise.
Donations in Travis' name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
