Tyrone Blair

Tyrone Powell Blair, known as Tookie/Shorty, was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, born to the late Powell and Verna Blair. He was a loving brother and uncle who departed this life on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 71 years old. He leaves to mourn and always cherish his memories: sisters Ann B. Brewster and Vanessa B. Gaten (Bruce); stepson Lewis Washington III; nephew Raynell (Tineka) Blair; step-brother Donald (Vernell) Blair; step-sister Gwendolyn (Albert) Dwight; godbrother Henry (Michelle) Conerly; cousins Gregory and Reginald (Jacquelyn) Hymel, Quitman (April) Thomas III; great niece and nephew Tierra and Raynell Blair Jr. and many other cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by Powell Blair (Father), Verna M. Wilson Blair (Mother), Darryl Blair (Brother), James "Jockey" Wilson (Grandfather), and Beatrice. Murray Wilson (Grandmother), George Wilson (Uncle), Ruby Hymel Thomas (Aunt), Pleasant Wilson (Uncle), Powell Blair Jr. (Step-Brother), Phillip Brewster (Brother-In-Law), and Bruce Darnell Gaten (Nephew). Family, friends, Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1972, St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, Creative Touch Accessories, Money or Muscle Clothing, University Hospital Clinic, Loving Four Baptist Church and neighborhood churches, Oak Street Clinic Staff, Dr. Michel Dioubate, MD, and Franklin Avenue Baptist Church are invited to the Celebration of Life of Tyrone Blair on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Salem Baptist Church, 2800 First Street, New Orleans, LA, Pastor Michelle Burt Conerly, officiating.
