Tyrone Coleman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 27, 2015.
Tyrone A. Coleman

Jackson

Tyrone Andre Coleman, 61, died March 24 at his home. He was born the youngest child of Velma James and Tommie Lee Coleman in Chicago, Illinois. Tyrone loved to participate and watch active sports, but his passion was golfing. He talked about caddying as a little person and carried around a golfer's large bag of golf clubs. As a caddy person, he learned a lot about the game. As Tyrone grew older, he looked forward to his days off to play golf and golf clubs had a permanent place in the trunk of his car.

Tyrone attended Tougaloo College and joined the Omega Si Phi fraternity and had a lifetime love for the colors purple and gold. His Omega membership gave him much joy. Tyrone went into retail where he found his niche. With strong social skills and his love for working with people, Tyrone was a champion of retail with Jean West, JC Penny's and most recently, for Dillard's.

Tyrone leaves behind a loving wife, Bessie; 3 sons, Jerome, Cedric and Derek all of Jackson, MS; one grandchild, Malik E. Coleman (Seattle, WA); a sister, Claudette (Edward) Adams Marietta, GA and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held 2:00 PM Saturday at New Mt. Zion M.B. Church. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery Pocahontas, MS. Collins funeral home handling arrangements.

Mr. Coleman, seems like yesterday when you use to take us to the gym to play ball, gets some burgers, and watch the game on tv. You were the model father who showed us the importance of spending time with family. I felt like I was on a tv show hanging out with y´all, especially the time ole Randoff kept turning your radio station. Lol
We miss ya, rest well Sir!!!

I worked with Tyrone at Dillards and always looked forward to our shifts together. He almost always told about what course he played and who won what. Easy to talk to and always spoke of his wife, mother, sons and grandson.

He's forever here..he lives on in you, me and everyone he met. He "is" a rare person, one we can only strive to emulate. He is the blueprint of a real King.

I still can't put my leg wayyy up there.

Today marks 90 days. A total of three months have simply just shot by. It's very strange. Most times it feels like it has been 30 years. Not often but over times it feels like it has been 30 seconds and some hurt and pain is fresh again. I am not sure how to explain that. I am not sure if that is good or bad. Music from the 80's and 90's often times remind me of good times. I don't miss you because I don't feel like you are gone. I don't even try and make sense out of things anymore. Simply use each day and try to make it better than yesterday. Love you dad!

To Bessie and Family,
Tyrone was a great person, friend and classmate. Whenever I ran into him, he was always the same--he never changed over the years. We always laughed about how long the 2 of you had been together, dating back to our years at Tougaloo. May God grant you peace and serenity during this time.
