Umberto Meola Umberto Meola, age 78, of Millcreek died Sunday February 13th, 2005, at Saint Vincent Health Care Center. He was born February 12th, 1927, in Pesco Sannita, Italy a son to the late Donato and Madelina D’Andrea Meola. He served in the Italian Army and came to the United States in 1983. He was a brick layer for the Erie School District, retiring 15 years ago. He was a member and an usher at St. Paul Catholic Church, and their Holy Name Society and the Nuova Aurora Society. He played bocce at the Nuova Aurora Club and at St. George Church. And enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Philamena Orlando; and a brother, Luigi Meola. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Giovanna Colao Meola; a son, Luigi Meola, wife Barbara of Zurich, Switzerland; two step children, Angela Durante of Erie and Nicholas D. Durante, wife Lou Ann of Erie; six grandchildren Natasha, Umberto II, John, Christopher, Sean and Bryan; a brother, Antonio Meola, wife Rosina of Erie; a sister, Teresa Boffa of Italy; a nephew, Danny Meola; a niece, Mary Ellene Straub and several nieces and nephews in Italy. Calling Tuesday 7 to 9 and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Home for Funerals, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd. Services there Thursday at 11:45 with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Church at 12:30 p.m. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Church or St. Paul’s Free Clinic. Condolences at www.bruggerfuneralhomes.com.

We wish we were able to extend our condolences in person. We only saw Umberto 2-3 times a year, but we will miss his sense of humor and infectious smile.
