Valentin Fuentes Obituary
February 14, 1945 - January 10, 2024.
Valentin Avila Fuentes passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 78 years old. His final moments were spent with his family surrounding him with an abundance of love and prayer. Valentin was born on February 14, 1945, in New Braunfels, Texas. He later moved to California and married his wife, Imelda Fuentes. They settled in Merced, CA, where they raised their family.
Valentin was a great man who would always show kindness and share laughter with anyone he met. He enjoyed spending time with his family, telling jokes, and watching movies and novelas with his wife. His hobbies included fishing, fixing cars, and making inventions. He will always be remembered as Tata and for his silly jokes and stories, as well as his friendly spirit, outgoing personality, and unconditional love.
Valentin was preceded in death by his grandson, Valentin Jose Gonzalez Fuentes, his parents Maria Cruz Aguero, and Julio and Cecilia Fuentes, as well as numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years of marriage, Imelda Fuentes, his children Eddie R. Fuentes (Glenda), Patricia Hernandez, Margarita Escalera (Manuel), Jose L. Fuentes, Angelica M. Fuentes, Rachel Fuentes (Oscar), and Jessica M. Ortiz (Eddie). Valentin leaves a legacy of 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Calvary Assembly of God at 1021 R Street, Merced, CA. as well as Friday, February 2, 2024, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. Burial will take place following the service at Calvary Cemetery, 260 W. Child's Ave, Merced, CA.

The first memory, I have a Valentine and his family was at the government camp in Planada California. He and his wife Imelda were newlyweds. She was pregnant with her first child. they were our neighbors from across the way and that´s where our friendship developed.. my condolences to the family.
