We met in Pakistan. I was overwhelmed by your personality. I haven't met any other woman as kind, as sensitive, as caring, as brave, as giving, as responsible as you. You taught me so much. You gave me so much.
I visited you in your home in US. You showed me around, we shared few very happy days.
You were my friend for life, we had plans to work together, do things together, go to places together...
I still don't believe you have left, ...
I am sure we will meet again, some place, some time, some how...

Last week I received an email reminder that today would have been Valerie's 46th birthday. As I think about what happened this year, it's still hard to believe that Val is no longer with us. There's a part of me that thinks she's still out there and maybe on her way to Germany! I wish she was here now with us in Wiesbaden. Her generous spirit, courage, warmth and kindness were such an inspiration and made her a joy to work with. I hope she's in a place of bliss and peace where she's able to fulfill all the hopes and dreams that perhaps evaded her in life.

Ci mancherai, Valerie!

A Silent Warrior left the Team,
Soldiers keep a very important list in the back of their minds for their entire
lives. That's the small number of professionals that they want with them if
they go to war or are faced with great adversity. Valerie was at the top of mine.
Our Nation called on her often, and I'm sure it will surprise nobody that that she never
failed to step forward and do what needed to be done. Terms like selfless
service, courage, honor, integrity and professionalism are overused these days
and often seem to have lost their true meaning....until you apply them to
someone like Valerie, who humbly embodied the very best of what those sacred terms
imply.
My deepest sympathy to her family, and my thanks to them for sharing Valerie with us over the years. Their sacrifices were painful and difficult, but were a very critical part of the many meaningful successes that Valerie achieved.
We will meet again,
Raoul Correa

I'm Jean, thy husband from another lifetime. Our relationship was another casualty of Army life, but I still love thee, no matter what. Always did and always will. You were the nicest lady on Earth and I am very proud of all your achievements. I'm glad we managed to start writing to each other a few years ago and I understand I must be the very last person you wrote to. As I wrote on a previous post that the funeral home deemed inappropriate, it was "till death do us part" now the worst is erased, and the very best remains.
I'll pray for thee and thy family and your wonderful son Alex who made you so proud.
To this day I still regret to have declined your invitation to meet you in Uganda for his graduation ceremony.I was not ready to see you again and I'll have to live with that for the rest of my life. Rest In Peace my dearest Valérie, and find appeasement in your heart at last. And I'm asking your friends to write to me and share with me whatever comes to their minds straight from their hearts. As the poet once said: "It was better to part than never having met."
God Bless Thee and God Bless You All.

I knew Valerie when she and I were Staff Sergeants at Fort Huachuca in 2003 timeframe - we worked on the same team. She was always a joy to work with, because she had so much love and life in her soul. I then worked with her near Amman Jordan, in 2013, when she was a MICEP and she was again a breath of fresh air to be around, with her fantastic sense of humor, her vitality, and her friendship. I cannot believe she is gone. She will live in my heart forever. We all loved her.

My family and I will miss Valerie very much. I was fortunate to be able to work closely with Valerie during one of her overseas deployments in 2013-2014. She was a tremendous friend, teammate, and professional -- and truly one-of-a-kind. She was always there to help others and had an abiding sense of adventure, a keen wit, and a great sense of humor. I always smile when I recall her beautiful lilting French accent, her self-deprecating humor about her occasional "Franglish" malapropisms, her hunt for and love of good food, her creating an elaborate "nest" for herself wherever she was, and how she was always, always there for her team, far away from home. Although our time with her was all too brief, we treasure her memory and have been deeply touched by her presence. In love and sympathy to the Foucher family and her many, many friends and colleagues all over the world. Rich, Jami, Hunter, and Evan Antonisse

Dear Valerie, I met you very briefly during your tour in Vicenza, Italy, while my husband, Bryan, had the great opportunity to share your experience and skills for a 3-month deployment in Dakar, Senegal in 2000. He will aways remember when you wanted to swim in the rough Ocean and he was watching you from a distance to make sure you were OK. He remembers your distinguished greetings "Hello" with your beautiful French accent, and when you had to listen to his flying stories every day for 3 months. He was proud to hear that you obtained your pilot license, later on. We didn't stay in touch, but you were often in the center of our conversations when remembering those years. Life can present very unexpected sad moments, and to hear about you, was one of them. Dear Valerie, rest in peace. We will treasure your memory in our hearts. With love, Bryan and Liz Froehlich

I loved watching her playing with my daughter at the time who was 3. My daughter was in the shy stage but took to Valerie so fast ended up climbing all over her and got raspberries and tickles and hugs. She fit perfectly in her lap. Mum, you always called me sweety and rarely mentioned me by name. In my studies and work you always asked me to take care. Everyday before you went to work you could send a hug even when you were running late. You washed all my worries and provided all i needed. You made me experience tjat parental love i had missed in my teenage years. Thousands of miles away here in Uganda, I celebrate your love, compassion and above all the mentorship you always gave me each an everyday of the last ten years since we crossed path. You are in a better place but your voice and guidance will always live in me for the rest of my life. Rest in Eternal Peace my sweet mum. I love you
