Valerie Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 27, 2024.
Valerie Rene Johnson passed away on January 7, 2024, at age 71 in Richmond, VA. Born on May 2, 1952, in Richmond to Geraldine R. Johnson and Clarence Johnson, she was a member of First Independent Methodist Church, and later attended St. Paul's Baptist Church.

Valerie graduated from John Marshall High School and worked in Richmond until health issues forced an early retirement. In spite of more health setbacks, she enjoyed life. She was a determined individual, had a passion for sports, and loved music. An enthusiastic fan of college basketball, she often attended CAA Tournament games to support her favorite teams. She loved music and enjoyed attending the Hampton Jazz Festival and concerts at the old Richmond Coliseum and on Brown's Island.

Valerie's faith and determination met health challenges head on, leaving a lasting impact on those close to her. Val is dearly missed by her family. She is survived by sister Tanya, son Gerard, granddaughter Ariana, half-brother Darrell Johnson of Chicago IL, many loving cousins, and a devoted friend Rita.

May the Lord God keep Valerie in His peace until we see her again!
