Valerie Strieby Obituary

1951-2025

Valerie Strieby, of Boscawen, aged 73, passed away at her residence on January 11th, after a brief respiratory illness.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Strieby, her sister Cathleen Eckelbarger (with her daughters April Hibbard and Sonia Chamberlain), and her two children, Anthony Strieby and Camille Sheil. She was a loving grandmother of six: Emma and Lily from Anthony and Beth Strieby; Antalya, Adam, Jacqueline, and Joelle from Aaron and Camille Sheil.

The service will be held at Boscawen Congregational Church on January 24th at 4pm. There will be a reception following (location will be announced at the service).

Valerie was an accomplished organist, having earned a Bachelor in Music, lover of home cooking, hospitality, books, theology, and especially the Bible.

She was born in Red Bluff, California, to Stanley and Evelyn Hinkle. Her childhood was "as near to Heaven as you can get here on Earth." Her father was a truck driver, who went on to build many shops for truck repair businesses. Her mother was a 4th grade school teacher, who was also an avid and accomplished oil painter. This unique combination helped her to seek out a man like Paul, her husband of exactly 50 years, who became known as the "best handyman I've ever known."

Valerie loved her children dearly, raising them especially for that understanding: that they were well loved. She wanted them to have a firm and solid foundation in Jesus, since she knew it is the only stance that stays victorious amidst the various trials we face here on Earth.

As the family now gathers together to remember the life of Valerie, our dear wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, we are comforted greatly in knowing that she is now in the arms of Jesus. The last verse that she spoke while on earth comes from Jude, "Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen."

Any gifts, donations, and well wishes can be sent through either Paul Strieby or Anthony Strieby, both of whom are on Facebook.
