Vance Weibley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 1, 2025.
Burgaw - Death comes like the birth of a baby when it is time. Birth, death, sleep, and healing each comes in its own time. Whatever comes, we can trust that we are in the hands of a God who loves us.

Vance Wayne Weibley passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on the morning of February 27, 2025, at his home in Burgaw.

He was born December 29, 1936, in Perry County, Pennsylvania, the son of Walter W. Weibley and Gladys Clouse Weibley. In addition to his parents Vance was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Weibley in 1997 and his brother, Carl Weibley.

Vance is survived by his wife, Cathy H. Weibley; son, Andy Weibley; daughters, Sandy Weibley and Candy VanNynatten and her husband, Fred; grandsons, Aaron VanNynatten and Aidan VanNynatten; step-daughters, Donna Crisp (Roy) and Brenda Campbell; step grandchildren, Megan Crisp (Myles Dunder), Ashlyn Crisp, Tyler Campbell, Alex Campbell, and Josh Campbell; sisters, Gwen Roof and Diane DeVegter (Stanley); sister-in-law, Lois Weibley; many nieces and nephews; loads of friends, all who loved and respected Vance.

Vance said he was born with an egg in his hand. He moved to Burgaw in 1959 to operate and manage Carlisle Poultry and Egg that employed hundreds of local residents for 40 years before joining Braswell Family Farms in Nashville, NC where he continued to work in egg marketing until his death.

Vance dearly loved the Burgaw United Methodist Church where he was a long time member and served as Treasurer for 55 years. He was also passionate about serving others and for decades was involved in mission work in Jamaica and Red Bird, KY and was also involved in Kairos Prison Ministry and WARM rebuilding projects for hurricane victims, among others.

Enduring qualities that defined Vance's life were kindness, love, joy, generosity, integrity, responsibility, and service to others.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Burgaw United Methodist Church with visitation at the church at 1:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. The Reverend Matthew Hayes will conduct the service.

Burial will be at Burgaw Cemetery immediately following the service.

All are invited to the reception/meal in the church Fllowship Hall following the cemetery committal service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that you consider a memorial gift to Burgaw United Methodist Church, PO Box 26, Burgaw, NC 28425
