Whitney, Amber, and Luke.....you will always be special to me as the children of my brother Dan and your "very spirited" mom Vandy. Soooo many memories of hanging out and laughing with your Mom and Dad at the BBQ's in the early years to the many Mexican food restauants for Marguitas with Grandpa and Grandma. Your Mom and Dad did what they were supposed to do. They "worked" through the tough times and raised three wonderful kids! And now, you three are raising your own.
That is what family is all about!!
God bless you Vandy and my sincere condolences Whitney, Amber and Luke!

Vandy was the light and laughter that filled every room and life she entered. She taught us how much fun every moment could be when you have a sense of humor and allow your light to shine. Vandy and Danny are together now as it seems they were all meant to be. She will be missed and loved always!

Our condolences go out to Whitney, Amber, Luke and all their children. Having both parents pass in the last 9 months is quite the adjustment. Our love, hopes and prayers to all of you.
Our best wishes,
Uncle Doug and Debbie

I'm so very sorry about the loss of Vandy. I know that my cousin Danny loved her to the moon and back. They made a very special family together. Praying for strength and comfort for all of you. I know you will miss her fiercely.

Here it is:
Some people bring a spark into your life not with grand gestures, but with the quiet beauty of their presence. Vandy was that kind of light in my dark time; when we both found ourselves in rehab after being hospitalized!
We shared a love for creating things with our hands. We loved making simple things sparkle, with joy and laughter we always painted, created, or glued together new masterpieces! But more than that, we shared silliness, and sharing gummies, sodas and you name it with one another from room to room. Most precious I´d say is that we both had the gift of seeing everyday as something to be celebrated, because it was fragile and momentary! We made sure that everyone felt included and we inspired hope in the lonely patients to help them find color in the most ordinary moments. When Vandy and I met our stories were so similar that she referred to me as her twin! She always had a way of making my life feel fuller, brighter, and more fun.
We knew that creativity isn´t just about crafts - it´s about the way we live, the way we love, and the way we care. Just because I didn´t know her for long I felt the opposite- so I can say from the little time I was blessed to become her Friend and get to know her, she sure lived artfully, generously, joyfully and her Prized Possession was her Family! Vandy approached life with open hands, an open heart, and at times I needed a laugh she gave that mischievous grin. That fact was evident right away as they always visited her and brought lots of things; she knew she was loved! I felt like I too belonged to their family the way they treated me too!
I will miss her laughter, her sparkle, and I wish I could tell her one more time how thankful I am for her Beautiful Friendship; she made my rehab world a more beautiful place with her in it!!!
Vandy may be gone from our sight, but not for a moment from my hearts! I loved her laughter, and I will Forever Cherish all our glue sparkled covered memories through all the things we created that made each day a better one!
I will Always Treasure her friendship
I will Always Treasure her beauty of including me in her world and for sharing her joy with me despite all that she endured!
Until I get to see her again I will keep the glue warm and the sparkle ready for next Beautiful Creation together!

Vandy is my baby sister. She was such a darling baby. While only 3 years old she contracted rheumatic fever. We did not know if we´d see her again when Mom & Dad took her to Omaha Nebraska to the hospital. After she returned from the hospital she was unable to speak and was so weak. But weeks of all of us teaching her she regained these skills and her strength, from that day forward she was unstoppable. Funny and smart. She had a fierce love for Dan and her children. RIP baby sister. See you soon. June Rives

What a beautiful message for Vandy from her family. A Mom could ask for nothing more than knowing she is loved and will be missed.

Vandy, RIP, sister in law,
you were a Free and Outspoken Spirit..... for sure....
Others always knew what was on your mind at any given moment....
One constant, though ,
was your love of your beloved husband, children ,
grand peeps and of course precious those
fur babies!
Your spirit will be remembered forever....
