Veena Mummaneni Obituary
Dr. Veena D. Mummaneni was born in February 1947 in Vijayawada, India. She attended college and medical school at Osmania University in Hyderabad, India. She then trained in Ireland and Chicago as an OB/GYN. In 1980, Dr. Veena Mummaneni opened a solo OB/GYN practice in Oxnard. She served the community in Oxnard and Ventura for 37 years as a practicing OB/GYN, and she delivered thousands of children during that time at St. Johns Hospital in Oxnard and Ventura Community Memorial Hospital. She loved her work and enjoyed being a part of the joy of welcoming babies into the world. She previously served as Chairwoman of the OB/GYN department and was elected as Doctor of the Year at St. John's Hospital in 2015. She passed away on January 21, 2020 after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of the past 50 years, Dr. Prasad Mummaneni and her two sons, Dr. Praveen Mummaneni and Bobby Mummaneni as well as their wives and families (5 grandchildren).
Funeral Services and viewing are 9am to 1pm on Saturday January 25 at Garcia Mortuary (629 South A Street. Oxnard, Ca).

I just learned that Dr. Mummaneni had passed away and I am so sorry for the loss her family and numerous friends are feeling. She was an absolutely wonderful, compassionate Doctor and is sorely missed in Oxnard where for many years she has been considered to be one of the finest gynecologists in the local area.

We were sad to learn of Dr Veena's passing. I was one of the many and few of her last patients.
She was kind, caring, patient, and very passionate of her work as a physician and employer to her office staff. She was a physician, but she also gave the care and attention like a doting grandmother to an expectant mother.
My child and I were very fortunate that she took us in her care.

I worked in L&D at St. John's in the 90s. I always looked forward to working with Dr. Veena as she always had a smile & kind word for the staff & was a great teacher. Her mom's held her in great esteem & she also left them feeling that their delivery was the most special ever. She was so patient & caring & know she will be sorely missed by all those that were blessed to have been part of her life.
