VELMA MCCRORY Obituary

VELMA PIECE McCRORY, 85, born February 13, 1926 in Memphis, TN, passed away October 9, 2011 after a brief illness. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She loved to garden, enjoyed traveling, taking trips to the farm, playing bridge, and spending time with her family and friends. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 13 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mrs. McCrory was preceded in death by her husband, James E. McCrory, Sr. She leaves a daughter, Claudia (Brent) Stenberg; son, James E. McCrory, Jr. (Debbie); twin sister, Thelma Shepard; grandchildren, David (Jenny) Stenberg, Eric Stenberg, Matthew (Elizabeth) McCrory, Mark McCrory, and two month old great-grandson, Samuel Stenberg. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or charity of donor’s choice. Memorial Park Funeral Home, "Behind the stone wall", 901-767-8930. I sat beside Miss Velma at church. She was so nice to me & I miss her. I'm glad I knew her for the past 2 years. My sympathy to her family.

I was Mrs McCrory's neighbor and friend. She enjoyed talking about the farm and her late husband. She brought flowers to my wife and gifts to my kids. We are saddened by the news. Our condolences.
