RUDDOCK, Velma Sarah
December 27, 1931 - November 30, 2013
Velma Sarah Ruddock (nee McCallum) passed away peacefully at Foothills Hospital on Saturday, November 30, 2013, one month shy of her 82nd birthday. Velma was a farm girl, born and raised near Rosetown, Saskatchewan, who moved to Calgary in the 1950s where she worked for Model Dairies before marrying and raising a family in Haysboro. "Babe," as she was called by her closest family and friends, was the world's greatest mom who will be fondly remembered for her baking (especially the Christmas cookies), her generous nature and good humour, and the strength of a determined spirit that remained with her to the very end. Velma was loving wife to her late husband, John, originally of Dewittville, QC; mother to sons Malcolm "Mac" (Dee) of London, ON, and Ken (Kristin) of Calgary; Grandma/Nana to Callum, Emma, Brooklyn and Ella; and sister to Winona "Nonie" of Saskatoon, SK. She was predeceased by her parents Neil and Sarah, and siblings Ethel, Eileen and Calvin. The family extends its sincere thanks to the staff at Foothills Hospital for their care during Velma's final days.
