Velma E. Taylor, 82, of Rigby, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Rexburg Care and Rehab.
She was born Nov. 27, 1929, in Rigby to Isreal James Purser and Bertha Fern Rolfe Purser. She was raised and attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School.
On Nov. 14, 1947, she married Lorin John Taylor.
Velma is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, rock hounding and crocheting. She especially loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Harold) Christiansen of Shelley; sisters, Velta Sharp of Salt Lake City and Glenda Hendricks of Portland, Ore.; brother, Darold (Joy) Purser of Quartzsite, Ariz.; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Susan; son, Reynold; grandson, Robert; three brothers; and seven sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby, prior to services at the cemetery.
