Venice Cropper Knight 1/13/1923 ~ 1/2/2010 Venice Ruth Cropper Knight passed away Jan. 2, 2010 in Delta.Born Jan. 13, 1923 in Deseret, UT; was adopted and raised by grandparents, Thomas Lloyd and Eliza Ellen Western Cropper. Lived most her life in Deseret and spent many summers in Miller's Canyon. Attended A.C. Nelson Elementary and Hinckley High School. Married Newel Wesley Knight, Aug. 23, 1940 in Fillmore. Marriage was solemnized in Manti Temple on Jan. 8, 1958. Member of LDS Church and D.U.P. Worked at Deseret Cash Store, Arctic Circle, and Service Drug and was a telephone and PBX operator at Topaz Relocation Camp. Worked for Frontier Communications retiring in 1982 after 20 years. Mom was the greatest cook on earth. Her home was filled with smell of freshly baked bread, cookies, cakes, and pies. Mom's kitchen was a place where family and friends spent time reminiscing and laughing. Skilled seamstress and loved to read, listen to music, sing, dance, swim, crochet, and make warm, cuddly flannel blankets and afghans. Most of all, loved spending time with family. In youth, known as excellent basketball and softball player. Survived by children: Newel Bryce (Jackie) Knight; Kathleen Johnson; Krys Knight; and Charlene (Jim) Hasenyager; grandchildren: Shawn Knight; Jake Knight; Matt (Candice) Hasenyager; Lani (Jake) Wallace; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband: Newel Wesley Knight; granddaughter: Michelle Bennett; sisters: Mary Ann Cropper; Vilate Maxfield; Vera Cropper; Mina Cropper; Evelyn Robison; brothers: Lloyd Melvin "Matt" Cropper; Lester W. "Luke" Cropper; Carl T. Cropper. Services: Saturday, Jan. 9 at 12 Noon in Delta 3rd LDS Ward, 197 S. 300 W., Delta. Friends call Saturday morning at church, 10:30-11:40 a.m. Burial, Delta City Cemetery under direction of Nickle Mortuary, Delta. Family encourages donations to Topaz Museum, PO Box 241, Delta, UT 84624 or your choice of Charitable Organizations.
