I also miss my Aunts Vera Mae and Betty Lou. When I was little I thought they looked just alike and would get them mixed up (Vera was the elder so maybe she liked that). As Holland's daughter who loves to ballroom (and country) dance, I was also proud of Vera. I hope I am dancing with my husband for years, like Vera and Lyman did. I drove my dad's car the other day and the tape in his tape deck was (and I'm not kidding) "Polka Until You Drop" and I KNOW it came from Vera. Vera was always very creative and very busy. I cherish the ceramics pieces she gave me.

I miss my aunts Vera Mae and Betty Lou. They were both a real part of my life while I was growing up even though we lived several states away. Vera was always so witty and active---I remember her collecting rocks for many years. She could tell you where she had found each one. I also remember her and Betty and Mary exchanging gag gifts each Christmas, one memorable one being Cabbage Patch Dolls made out of real cabbage heads. With hand-written comic poems. We all laughed so hard we cried. For our wedding present, Vera gave Ray and me a huge (I mean huge) jar of pickles that she had made herself. It took us a year to get through that jar of pickles---I used to give her progress reports. My father (Holland Mondy) was very proud of Vera. He used to tell people that she was a disk jockey for the Senior Center Dances.

My sympathy goes out to the McKee family. Especially to Jack and Katie.
