Vera B. Urban, 97, of Great Meadows, NJ, died Thursday, June 26, 2008 in Newton Memorial Hospital, Newton, NJ. Born: She was born In Newark, NJ on April 20, 1911, a daughter of the late Philip and Christina Nasevich Burack. Personal: She was the wife of Jacob Urban, who passed away in 1957. Vera moved to Great Meadows ten years ago, coming from Nutley, NJ. She was a telephone operator for New Jersey Bell Telephone Co., Belleville, NJ, for 44 years before retiring in 1976. Memberships: She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and of the Communications Workers of America. Survivors: A son, Richard and his wife Ellen Urban of New Hope, Pa.; a daughter Beverly widow of Walter A. Gloumakoff of Great Meadows; a sister, Helen Karpson of Doylestown, Pa.; two grandchildren, Gregory and his wife Melissa Urban, and Dawn and her husband Thomas Smith; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Robert; two brothers and three sisters. Services: Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, with the funeral service to be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, also in the funeral home.
