Verda Anderson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 14 to May 15, 2016.
Auf Wiedersehen!
On May 11, 2016, our family said farewell to its loving matriarch. Verda Marie Wimmer Anderson passed away peacefully at her home.
She was born to Paris and Violet Wimmer on December 17, 1927, in Wilmar, California. She married Darrell A. Anderson on July 22, 1953, in the LDS Manti Temple. Together they raised six children: Kathy, Peggy (Hugh) Holt, Heidi (Jay) Stuart, Craig (Sherri), Karen, and Lora (Scott) Argyle. She was an educator, librarian, traveler, and life-long learner but first and foremost a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to everyone she met.
Verda was passionate about many things. Among her favorites were tending to her garden and flowers; playing games with family and friends; and reading to her kids, grandkids, and even the neighbors. She loved the Oregon Coast and combing the beach for agates and the bushes for blueberries. She was active in the LDS Church her entire life. She served three missions: one in the Swiss-Austria Mission as a young missionary and two with her husband later in life at the Freiberg Germany Temple and in the Global Service Center. She remained fluent in the German language her entire life and kept correspondence with her mission friends both at home and in Europe for over 65 years.
Verda was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers, Doug and Rodney. She is survived by her husband, Darrell; her sister Lorraine Brown; her six children; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren (plus two on the way); and a large extended family. She is loved and will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at the LDS Westland 7th Ward church house, 7115 South 3200 West. Friends and family may gather one hour prior to funeral proceedings. Interment, Holladay Memorial Park.
A special thanks to all those who have loved and served our wife and mother.

Dear Peggy,
Kathy, Heidi, Craig, Karen
Lora, and Darrell, I loved
your Mom and all of you. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Growing
up with all of you was great.
Your Mom was wonderful
and was an angel. My Mom pasted almost 10 years ago. It's hard to have them go, but their memories and Love are
with us daily.
With Love
and caring to each of you,
Holly Brim Delgatti Rundman

I was a part-time teacher at Lincoln Elementary when Verda was the librarian. We both worked in the library and soon became friends. One time she asked me to put drops in her eyes which I was happy to do. Soon after, Verda invited my family to have a vacation at her home in Oregon...an invitation that lasted six years! These were our only family vacations and meant more to us than anyone could ever imagine. We will remember Verda forever for her kindness and generosity to our family. She was an angel.

You probably don't remember me, but I just want to tell you how sorry I am to hear about your mom, she was a very special person and liked by all who knew her. My name is Gaylyn Stewart, I am David Jensen sister and I knew your mom from us all growing up in Holladay. reading your moms obituary i think I even knew her brother Rodney as we grew up in Holladay. Take care. Thank you, Craig for letting me know.
