VERNA E. QUINLAN
CORTLANDVILLE - Verna E. Quinlan, 86, of Walden Place, Town of Cortlandville, went home to be with the Lord and her husband and son on Friday, August 10, 2007, at the Cortland Regional Medical Center. Born November 26, 1920 in Lockport, NY, Verna was the daughter of Ernest and Hattie Clark Finch and was a Cortland resident since 1963.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, a member of the Catholic Daughters of The Americas, Court #919, Cortland, The Cortland City and County Fire Auxiliaries, The 20th Century Club, Cortland Senior Citizens Club, R.S.V.P. and the Red Hat Society. Additionally, Verna loved traveling with the senior citizens group on many different outings and truly loved her family and the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her son, Paul (Linda) Quinlan of Cortland; her former daughter-in-law, Kristine Marshall of Ithaca; three grandchildren, Maggie (Eric) Edwards, Katherine A. (Christopher) Cohen and Paul Francis Jr. (Melissa) Quinlan; three great-granddaughters, Kaci Jane Edwards, Allison Emily Edwards and Kadence Susan Cohen. Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. "Bud" Quinlan in 2005; a son, Dennis Michael Quinlan in 2000; and by a sister, Dorothy Finch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 1 p.m. in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Michael Minehan serving as celebrant. Prayers of committal will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. In keeping with her wishes, there are no calling hours. Those wishing to honor her memory are asked to please consider St. Mary's Parochial School, 61 N. Main St., Cortland, NY 13045.

I knew 'Bud' well. Please accept my condolences for the loss of your mother.

We enjoyed both Bud and Verna on the senior citizens trips and on thrusday night out at the senior center. Bud would always dish up the soup and Verna would play cards. They were an enjoyable couple and it was a priviledge to know them.
