Verna May Kerr Wise passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 22, 1936, in Greene County, to the late William Kerr I and Nora Ackley Kerr Calvert.
One thing no one could deny about her was her loyalty and strong love for her children and grandchildren. They were always a priority in her life.
She was a bit of a celebrity at the local dollar stores, where many people knew her by her name. She also loved driving her car around town. Her family often joked that her car was so happy to be home at the end of the day.
She enjoyed all holidays, but especially Christmas, and she loved picking gifts. She loved wearing bright colors, with lots of jewelry. She had a fashion style all her own.
Playing 500 Rummy was always a favorite and many, many hands were played.
Play her some Conway Twitty, George Jones, or Elvis and her toes would be tapping. The two step was her favorite.
She is survived by her children, August "Sonny" (Lisa) Kerr, Lee Wicks, Kimberly Donahue, and Timmy (Beth) Wise, all of Washington; her grandchildren, AJ (Jackie) Kerr, Austin (Becca) Kerr, JD (Jamie) Donahue, TJ (Haleigh Palmer) Wise, Michael (Laura) Buchanan, and Tori Johnson Beattie; as well as eight great-grandchildren with another on the way.
She is also survived by six siblings, Patty Livingood of Brockway, Darlene Breese, Debbie Hatfield, William Kerr II, Dennis Kerr and Christy Kirkwood, all of Washington County; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Peggy Crawford and Jean Askews.
As per her wishes, there will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, in her honor, to the Caring Mission, 917 North Main Street, Washington, PA 15301, or the Donnell House, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
A special thank you to Candy Speers, her UPMC coordinator, and Joyce Robinson, her social worker from Concordia.
Arrangements have been entrusted to William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.

My Mom sure was a force to be reckoned with! She was Great! For anyone who knew her knew she was a Great Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Sister, Daughter, Cousin and Friend. We didn't get to know each other until à little later in our lives. She was Fun, Loving, Giving and a Wonderful Lady I Loved her very much. She Loved to Shop & Socialize. She was always on the go! Her favorite thing to eat was Shrimp especially Long John Silvers as is Mine. We had so many things in common alot of the same likes and dislikes, like Chocolate she Loved Chocolate! as is my addiction too! I'll always remember her Bright Sparkling Blue eyes and her contagious laugh! I know she's in Heaven with her Mom, Dad, Siblings and so so many Loved ones. She will be sadly missed. She left behind so many great memories that every time I think of her I smile along with some tears, She's smiling right now watching over us just waiting for all of us to join her Rest in peace my Friend we will all see each other soon enough I'll always think of you ...With everlasting Love and Admiration your oldest Daughter Lee
