Verne Eke Obituary
Organist, musical director and teacher, Verne passed away in Seattle on July 9, 2012 after a brief illness. Born in Tumwater, he graduated from the UW and earned two master's degrees from USC. A celebration of his life will be held at Fremont Baptist Chruch on Saturday, August 25th at 1:00 P.M., 717 North 36th, Seattle, 98103. More at http://tinyurl.com/vernemeke. (206) 632-7994

Like many young musicians growing up in the Olympia of the 1950s, Verne was a force to be reckoned with. His love of music and learning were contagious. He gave us many opportunities to experience great art and meet its challenge. He was a unique, eccentric, and generous man. I will always cherish my memories of Verne during those golden days of the Contemporary Arts Festival. I hope he knew how much love and respect we had for him.
