Vernon Boyd, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2025.
Vernon G. Boyd, Jr. passed away on February 11, 2025, in Port Orchard, Washington, at the age of 88. Born on December 14, 1936, in Blytheville, Arkansas, Vernon lived a life defined by service, adventure, and dedication to those around him.

Vernon proudly served his country as a Navy Quartermaster, a career that took him across the world. Among his most memorable experiences were his years aboard swift boats during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Navy in 1973, he continued his commitment to public service as a police officer in Moscow, Idaho.

Beyond his professional life, Vernon had a deep passion for the outdoors. He especially loved packing horses into the mountains, an activity that reflected both his adventurous spirit and appreciation for nature. He also found peace in spirituality and often spent evenings reading scripture.

Vernon will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help others. His love for life was evident in the way he cherished family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Diana; son Tony; daughter-n-law, Rene; stepchildren Ryan and Heather (Mabel); grandchildren Zack, Michael, Jason, Keilee, Brittany, MacKenzie, A.J., and Hunter; as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

A service with full military honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery at a later date.

May Vernon's memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
