Thank you for believing in me as a player and person. I wish you were there my senior year at Burbank. God bless you and see you one day Coach.

My dad touched, inspired and affected so many lives in a beautiful and powerful way. I witnessed it first hand as I followed him all over the football field, the gym, the campus or anywhere he went. He was my hero and it was no secret. Our family, the coaching profession in it's entirety, friends and former players/student athletes lost a loving, passionate and dedicated husband, father, coach, mentor and friend who will be celebrated, never forgotten and greatly missed.

Vernon was my brother-in-law. He was kind to me and will be missed. My mother, Jewell Hahn, gave him a nickname, "Ole Valdez" I think he liked it when she called him that because he would get this big grin on his face. I'm sure they are having a laugh or two.

He was a great Coach but more important he was a great human being. I had the pleasure of working with Vernon at Brackenridge High School. He was one heck of a person to have on your staff. He was extremely knowledgeable. He was my assistant in track and I was blessed for this. Vernon, I will miss you very much because I learned so much from you.
