I’m sorry that our names and condolences are just now getting to the book. Dr. Steve Weaver and I were USAF buds with Vernon. We trained together at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. 1976-1980. When Weaver and I would occasionally talk or get together, we often wondered about Vernon. Our intentions were to reach out. and then time slips away. We waited too long. It’s so heartwarming to read through the messages here and learn that Vernon had not changed one bit from the guy we knew 40 years ago. Great doctor, great man, and full of laughter! God bless.
