Vernon was born on December 18, 1946 and passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Vernon was a resident of Upland, Indiana at the time of his passing. He was formerly from Huntington, Indiana. Mr. Mason was a 1964 graduate of Huntington High School. He volunteered for service in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War where he received several combat-related citations and awards for his service. Calling hours will be held on Monday April 4 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home 715 N. Jefferson St. Huntington IN. Funeral Services and Military honors will follow the calling hours at 11:00 a.m. on Monday April 4 2016 at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home 715 N. Jefferson Street Huntington IN. A burial will be held at Marion National Cemetery 1700 East 38 Street Marion IN at 2:00 p.m. on Monday April 4 2016. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Fisher House Foundation in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home 715 N. Jefferson Street Huntington IN.

Sorry to hear of the loss of an old friend. Les and I were friends back as kids in Salem,Il
I know he was a policeman in Indiana for a while and I retired from the Dept. of Corrections in Centralia, IL, so I guess we were always somewhat a like.

I am out of state, but I want the Mason family to know that I am praying for your comfort and peace. Great memories of Les and your family. I haven't had much contact with your family, but I did get the chance to visit with your Mom at Norwoods a few times. She remembered me! Know that I am praying and you guys will always have a special place in my heart. Praying!

I'm saddened to hear of Les Mason's death. I knew him when he was with the police department, and met up with him again years later. May he rest in peace.
