Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 12, 2025.
Vickie Lynn Buth Stone, 79 of Starrville, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Vickie was born on June 29, 1946, in Spanaway, Washington. Loving wife to William Lloyd Stone, Jr., the couple recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Vickie grew up on one of the largest cattle and horse farms in Washington State at the base of Mt. Rainier. Here, she developed her lifelong passion for horses and cattle by showing horses and competing as a barrel racer.

Vickie was deeply involved in her community. She served as a leader in the Gregg County 4-H where she mentored young people with their show animals. Vickie loved history and political science, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas-Tyler in History and Education. A retired schoolteacher, she taught history and government in numerous East Texas school systems. She also contributed as a poll worker in Smith County, Texas, recognizing the vital importance of community and democracy. She attended Sit'Em Down Cowboy Church in Big Sandy. Vickie enjoyed playing board games and especially dominos and chicken foot with Lloyd, her grandchildren, and friends.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Verna Buth, and sister, Linda. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Dee Ann Stone of Nashville, TN; daughter and son-in-law Lynda and Harold Riley of Gladewater, TX; grandchildren, Emily Stone, Jackson Stone, Garret Williamson; and numerous nieces and nephews who she cherished deeply.

Vickie's Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:00PM at Sit'Em Down Cowboy Church. Her family will receive friends at 12:30PM prior to the service.

A private family graveside service will take place at Starrville Cemetery after the Celebration of Life.
