VICTOR FINK Obituary
A man of untold energy and passion, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2018 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He was born on August 19, 1945 to Ruth and George Fink, the middle child between brother Paul, and sister Leslie. The family owned Camp Leonard/Leonore and it was here that Victor learned his guiding principles: work hard, stay positive, encourage others, have fun. It was at UCONN that he developed his entrepreneurial skills, leading him to convert the children's camp into Club Getaway, a place that brought joy to thousands of children and adults. In the late 1970's, he reconnected with his close high school friend, Susan Goldman and they married in 1982. Together with his stepdaughter, Allison and son Andrew, the family lived a rich, full life filled with friends, family, travel, and adventure. Despite a lung transplant in 2012, he remained active, trading skiing for sailing and creating a charity benefitting lung transplant research. To date, he has raised one million dollars. He is survived by his wife Susan, stepdaughter Allison, son Andrew, sister Leslie, niece Samara and great-nephew George. Donations can be made at: www. lungtransplantproject.org.

I recently learned of Victor´s passing...I have wonderful memories of my summers at Camp Leonard-Leonore and, of course, of Victor.
One summer Victor gave me the shirt off of his back, and I wore his U-CONN baseball shirt, # 68, until it was threadbare : )
Come late June, when I see happy campers loading buses for the summer months, my memories of my summer months at Leonard-Leonore will, once again, come alive - simply the best : )

Victor had a way about him. We were friends since the early 60's. We might not see each other for years, but when we would, there would be that effervescent smile and that twinkle in his eye that would make it seem like no time had past since we were last together, and how glad he was to see you and be with you again! What a wonderful, warm friend. He'll be forever in my heart of hearts. My deepest condolences to his family.

Victor was so special. A normal sized man, with an abnormally large personality, and unbounded creativity, energy, and generosity. To know Victor was to love him.... Victor made everything good, better. He is sorely missed.

I first met Victor 54 years ago when my sister married his dear late brother, Paul. He had a smile that could light up a room and such a friendly way about him. He was totally devoted to his family and evidenced a positive attitude and Joie de vive despite the heartbreaking deaths of his parents, his brother, his niece, Laura whom he adored. He extended that love to Laura's son, George. Rest In Peace, Victor!!
