Vic,
Christmas 2017, been a while since the last Christmas we were together, remember that day well, as the rest of the times we shared. Today was a good day, kids had fun opening presents and enjoying the family, now I sit here alone reflecting and missing you and I wish so much you could be doing the same. We trained together, we fought together, patrolled together, laughed and cried together. I miss ya bro, the camp come alive at 2 o'clock! Your friend and team mate forever,

No one knows how much we miss you,
No one knows the bitter pain
We have suffered since we lost you
Life has never been the same.
In our hearts your memory lingers,
Sweetly tender, fond and true.
There is not a day,
That we do not think of you.

On May 23rd, 2015 my family and I participated in the I Did the Grid 4 mile run/walk. The run is organized by Team Chris, an organization founded by the family of Cpl. Christopher G. Scherer who was killed in action in July of 2007. As part of the run participants carry the names of four fallen heroes on our bibs to honor the sacrifice that they and their families have made so that we and our families may live free. There are no awards or medals. We ring a bell in honor of the names we carry when we cross the finish line. Victor's name was on my daughter's bib. We cannot begin to know your sorrow but we can promise you that he will not be forgotten and that your family will remain in our prayers.

Victor
It is memorial weekend 2011. In remembering friends and family that have gone before us my thoughts settled on you. When you told me you were going into the Army I was very afraid for you, having experienced more than the loss of many of my friends in vietnam, I thought all that pain and suffering was over in my life and always lived in fear (of losing them in the service of our country)for my sons Brian,Tim, and Chris. You and Brian grew up almost as brothers and the fear I had for you was overwhelming...you were as the fourth son in our household, you and brian were buds... I heard you were gone and it broke my heart. I wanted to call your parents but did not know what to say,,You were so smart and I always knew you'd be the kind of man to make your family and friends proud of you,and we are. We the Elia's all loved and cared about you Vic..especially Brian..May you always walk with the lord and may he smile on your Dad, Mom, and sister. We will alays remember you and keep you in our hearts-Michael,Sherry,Brian,Tim,and Chris Elia

Hey Vic,
I know it's been a terrible long time....I miss you bro!
Vic was my best friend and roommate. We used to do everything together from riding Mt. bikes to working. We both served and pretty much grew up together in the ARMY. We would go on different deployments come back home and go Mt. biking as soon as we could. In spring of 2005 I received an E-mail from Vic saying that he would be home and to get my bike ready. A week later he was killed in Afghanistan. He died doing what he did best…….
Vic was a great friend and soldier. He was the top of his game in everything that he accomplished.
I’m sure he is waiting for me in heaven. When I see him I’m sure he will say, "Get your bike ready"
I'll never forget you man!

Hey there.
I miss you.
Just 4 days ago, on my birthday, I was in Washington DC, walking the National Mall and seeing all the monuments.
The memorials for Vietnam and World War II, reminders of fellow countrymen who also died believing our country is worth fighting for.
At the Korean Memorial, it read on the wall, "Freedom Is Not Free". I sat on the bench and quietly reflected on that fact. My heart swelled and tears fell as I thought of you and the life you gave for our country.
As I walked alongside, Chris, I shared with him about you. How I remembered you in high school. The way you always made me smile and laugh. How, despite seeing photos of you as a strong grown man in uniform, I still remember the scrawny little underclassman with the huge heart and big personality.
I'm so proud of you. I'm so thankful for you. For the life you led. For the lives you still continue to touch. I'm blessed to have shared a part of my life with you.
Love you always...
Here it is complete!!! There are 27 "forget me not" flowers for your age...the sparrows are for freedom...the banner was your choice....and of course the Special Forces crest that is so special to you and your brothers!!!

I think of you EVERY day but days like today I once again realize just exactly why you are gone. I don't think you could have ever known just how much you are missed. You touched so many lives and you never even knew it. You were taken way too soon and so much was never said and never done. I will always regret that and always mourn your loss. Sometimes I really get the sense of your spirit and I take a lot of comfort in that...it's something I can't explain but I know it's there. I always talk about you to your Godson...he understands what a brave and honorable man you were and he will forever honor your memory...he talks about you all the time to his friends and yesterday he stood up in front of class with pictures of you and told a nice story about you!!! ;o) I will always be so sad that he didn't have more time with you....I know you would have loved to tell him stories and teach him about the places you have been to. He says you visit him when he's sleeping...sometimes he dreams of you...and to me that is a miracle because he really didn't get to see you too much when you were here....you were off fighting in a war that is still going on and still taking people's loved ones. I just wanted to let you know that I miss you more than words can express and I so very much miss talking to you like we used to. I enjoy going to see you at the cemetery but then I realize where I am and it hurts to know you aren't coming back. I know you're looking down on us all and I just wanted to let you know that I am looking back at you buddy!!!! ;o)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Victor, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

Vic,
The men of Charlie Company will always miss you, you have impacted our lives in so many ways. It seems like yesterday when you came to our company and we all prepared to come here, now we are at the end of our mission and I wish that you, Charlie, Leroy and Chris were coming home with us. As the SGM said, you are now a split team watching us as we make our way back to the U.S. keeping us safe and protected. The sacrifices you four made for us will always be remembered during those quiet times we get to reflect on our successful mission. You will never be forgotten by anyone of us and you will always be missed. Like we say "donde sea, cuando sea, como sea, lo que sea" (Anyplace, Anytime, Anything).

Vic- You will always be in my thoughts. Growing up only 1 block away from each other was the best. I will miss a true friend. Rest in peace.

Victor "Sexy Legs" Cervantes. I will always remember you and your laugh. My prayers are with Liz and your parents. It's been many years since those fun times at St. Mary's high school, when you were but an awkward freshman and I was a junior...You will always be remembered. God bless.
