May God comfort you Kay and the rest of the family as you go on without Victor. I grew up going to the same Sunday School class as Victor (then known as Jake). Latter we shared a room as we attended Bethany. I always found him to be a loving and caring friend, full of fun and missionary zeal.

To the Nickel Family:

My brother called me the other day and said that article in the paper about Mr. Nickel did you read it and I said "no not yet" he said "that was Mr. Nickel" "our Mr. Nickel" I said "yes" he said .

I grew up in the community of Papikwan east of Carrot River, and Mr. Nickel was our bus driver for several years when I was just a little girl. He was always well liked and respected by his passengers. He never had to raise his voice to keep us quiet and waited patiently if we were late for the bus.

Years later when we met we had a wonderful visit and enjoyed sharing our memories.

He was a very nice man and I am saddened of his lost.

Kay & family; I was saddened to hear of your loss of Pator Nickel. His ministry impacted my life way back in Carrot River. I well remember all of the choir practices & the gospel that he so faithfully conveyed to us. I know you will be comforted by the fact that you will see him again!

Dear Kay, Leona and families,
I recall Victor's sharing with the church at Borden about his call to leave farming and enter the ministry. It impacted me as a teenager. I can still hear his voice. I see that that call remained strong. Now the last day written in his book has come. May God give strength and grace for the rest of your journeys!

Dear Phil and family. Mere words can not express the emotions and the sadness felt by all. I truly am sorry to hear of your loss. From learning of your fathers life, and how he was the salt of the earth, I now understand how you are such a great person. With all my thoughts, an old friend. Mike McCloy

Kay, our hearts mourn bittersweet with you in Victor's passing into an new life with Christ - Larry and I will always cherish the friendship our family had with you both, in Meadow Lake and Saskatoon, and the privilege of being neighbors on 2nd Ave. Our highlight was your garage sales with restored furniture to raise money for others, and a beautiful buffet from one sale sits in my dining room as a daily reminder of your sacrifices. Victor served and loved more people in one week than most do in a lifetime - his stories and example will stay with us forever, we do not know anyone who gave like he did for others. Praise God for the legacy Victor left for us to follow. Much love and sympathy to you and your family.

To a very dear family,
Pastor Nickel was truly one of the kindest and most generous people one could ever meet. Knowing your family since I was a young girl, I remember the many sacrifices of time and effort made by this young couple who were pastoring a church in our community. I want to send my condolences to Katie and family and may we all remember that Victor is in the presence of the Lord.

I will never forget when my grandmother was in the hospital and I needed someone to talk to her about the lord. Victor went the extra mile to make sure he had a chance to see her. He continued to follow up with phone calls to see how she was doing.I am extremely thankful. Now he is in heaven with grandma. Sorry to hear of your loss. Our thougts and prayers are with you during this time.
