Victor Sucheski Obituary

Victor Sucheski
December 18, 1953 - July 22, 2021
Fair Oaks, California - Victor Robert Sucheski passed away peacefully at home on July 22, 2021 from complications of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Vic was born December 18, 1953 to Victor and Florence (Polkosnik) Sucheski. He was raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania in a close-knit Polish-American Catholic family and community. He was proud of his Polish heritage and Scranton roots and passed on his love of both to his wife and children.
Vic attended Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School, Scranton Preparatory High, and Penn State University, and following graduation obtained his podiatric medical degree from the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland.
Seeking warmer weather, he moved out West to complete his residency and internship in Tucson, Arizona and took his first job in Sacramento in 1982. He later opened his own podiatry practices in Roseville and Placerville and was on staff at Sutter Roseville and Marshall hospitals for many years. He dearly loved his patients and colleagues, many of whom he considered his friends.
Vic met his future wife Mary Lou in Sacramento in 1987. They married in 1988 and raised their three children in Fair Oaks. For Vic, living near Lake Natoma and the American River bike trail was paradise. You could find him riding his bike there several times a week, year-round. Off the trail, he was a sports fan, particularly of the Dallas Cowboys, Penn State Nittany Lions, Sacramento Kings, and San Francisco Giants.
Most of all, Vic was a wonderful father and provider to his family. He was a humble and down-to-earth person whose happiest moments were centered around his family and his children's school and sports activities. Vic was a warm presence to others, bringing smiles and laughter to his family and friends even in the face of a devastating diagnosis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife Mary Lou (Pon) Sucheski, daughter Laura Sucheski Markuze (Stan), sons John and Stephen Sucheski, sister Arlene Baldwin (Marc) of Southampton, New Jersey, and a large extended family.
A funeral Mass will be held on August 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Mel Catholic Church, 4745 Pennsylvania Avenue, Fair Oaks. Memorial contributions may be made to the American River Parkway Foundation (https://arpf.org/) or the ALS Association Greater Sacramento Chapter (http://websac.alsa.org/).

I find out we were in the same parish at StMel church. On this First Saturday, I wish peace to all who knew and loved Dr Sucheski. Still walking on my plantar fasciitis feet which are now suffering neuropathy and I dedicate my footsteps to his memory. God bless all podiatrists.

He was a wonderful, fun, kind and loving doctor to his patients. My husband, Bud, was one of his patients and they always had fun talking together, as well as Dr. Sucheski doing a great job on Bud's feet. We are SO sorry to hear he is gone. He was an awesome man and doctor as well.

Dear family, a year already! Such a loving, sweet man - always joking, always so welcoming and kind. Ican´t believe he is no longer with us. How he loved and was so proud of his entire family - you all have to be very special. I am a Master Gardener and was giving him tips on starting a square foot garden. He tld me he was voted best seamstress in podiatry training! He is missed by so many. Prayers for all of you in this great loss. He is with God and will greet you in the future.

I´m sorry I had only found out today, 1 year and 5 months later of Dr. Sucheski´s passing through my 1st appointment with another podiatrist when I told him I attempted to reach out to Dr. Sucheski without any luck. I couldn´t find him. That was sad to hear. My heart breaks for Mary Lou and his grown children. He was genuinely the most caring and happiest physician I´ve known. He always had a smile and approached with the most pleasant bedside manner anyone could want in a doctor. He will truly be missed! I even saved an old voicemail he left me because I was so amazed at how caring he was and couldn´t believe the thoughtful v.m. He left that it was something to be treasured for a little longer. I hope other physician´s who knew him picked up a thing or two from this man. You are now free Dr. Sucheski! Bask in the beautiful white and loving light that you so deserve. We all will see you again when it comes our time. Peace to Both you and your family.

From long past days at Scranton Prep, Victor was a great friend. The "Suuch" was hardworking, humble and had a wry sense of humor. From an English class..."Let flights of angels take thee to thy rest..." Condolences to the family.

To Victor's wife and family I send my deepest and sincere condolences. Victor and I grew up together in Scranton playing baseball and basketball all the time. It was the best days. I forgot was day Victor's birthday was in Dec. and when I googled his name to find out, I was shocked to see his obituary. So again, so sorry for your loss. He is going to be missed.

Mary, I am so very sorry. I had no idea- had been thinking of stopping by just to say hi. You and Dr. Sucheski were always so very nice.

Dr. Sucheski was my Mom, Dale's podiatrist. Because she is deep into dementia, many things bother her. We always appreciated Dr. Sucheski's kind ways with her and Mary Lou's kindness also. So sorry to hear of his diagnosis and passing. Much sympathy to the family.

Dear Mary Lou and family,
Our hearts are breaking for you. He was such a wonderful man and such a sweet person as well as a great physician. The doctor who told me of his passing said "He was an icon in our field. Known for his kindness and dedication to his patients and his craft." We are so thankful that we got to know you both through his practice. He is truly missed by us. We wish for you and your kids to have God´s peace and grace with you always.
Love and prayers,
Linda and Steve

I was honored to join the "boys club" walking at night with Vic and Mike. Vic and I would laugh at each other´s winter clothes- I from HI wearing leggings, gloves, knit cap, 2 jackets. He from PA wearing shorts, shirt and MAYBE a light jacket. He nicknamed me "the energizer bunny"as I walked so fast! Xmas time was extra special as he and I would ohh and ahh at the lights and decorations in Gold River. I will miss u my dear friend. I know you are in Heaven giving God some advice and telling jokes!!

Please be our guardian angel watching over us.

So many great memories with Victor and the Sucheski Family. Victor was my workout buddy. We hit the bike trail 3 or 4 times a week for about 14 years on my count. We shared many jokes, music, TV shows and most of all we would enjoy talking about our families and loving what our families were doing in their lives.
Victor loved his kids and would do anything for them. Mary Lou you are a saint. He would often comment that you were the glue that held the family together and was the backbone of the business running the front office.
He will be missed, especially his one of a kind sense of humor. I still reach for my phone to text him . Miss ya Dr. Sole.
