Barbara Cordy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 15, 2007.
Wrangell resident Barbara Ann Cordy, 66, died Feb. 25, 2007, at Wrangell Medical Center from complications of cancer.
As per her wishes, no services will be held.
Barbara was born Sept. 6, 1940, in Oklahoma City to Ruth E. Goodson and Claude Overturf. She was raised in the San Francisco Bay area and moved to Juneau on her birthday in 1970. There, she was a dispatcher for the Alaska State Troopers and met rookie trooper Clifford Cordy. They were married on Feb. 28, 1971, at Auke Bay.
They lived throughout the state and Barbara worked at many jobs, but her first love was for art, which she studied and practiced from her teenage years until days before her death. She received state and national recognition for various art media.
In 2002 retirement brought Barbara and Clifford to Wrangell. In May 2005, Barbara fulfilled a lifelong dream of opening her own studio and gallery.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 36 years, Clifford Cordy; children, Patrick Cordy of Pennsylvania, Colleen Baglio of Anchorage, Erica Johnson of Anchorage and Natalie Cordy of Palmer; sister, Rashell Teter; and brother, Colin Overturf.
She was preceded in death by two sisters.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Barbara. Will cherish the fond memories of the days of old, when sharing projects in the weaving study group, or partake in spinning activities. It was magically to be around the creative side of Barbara and that will be greatly missed.

It was always pleasant seeing you and your husband at the Noisy Goose to eat in Palmer. You were a wonderful parent/grandparent that really loved her family. I will miss seeing you.
