Vincent Bifano Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 25 to Apr. 27, 2009.
Vincent James ("Jim") Bifano, age 75, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully under the tender loving care of his family and the staff at Niagara Hospice House on April 24, 2009.Mr. Bifano was born in Bradford, PA and moved with his parents, the late Charles and Laura (Longo) Bifano to Niagara Falls at a young age, where he attended local schools. Following his retirement from DuPont, he moved to Las Vegas where he resided until 2007. In addition to his employment at DuPont, he was a bartender at several local restaurants. In Las Vegas, Jim served several terms as President of the Board of Directors of the Homeowners Association in his community and was always involved in helping his neighbors. He loved walking, swimming and all kinds of music, especially Jazz, Sinatra and the Big Bands of the 40's. He was an avid sports fan and his favorite team from the time he was a young boy listening on the radio with his father and uncles, was the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In later years, he attended home football games with his family and friends at the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Bifano leaves to cherish the memories they made, his loving wife, Carole (Darby) Bifano. He is also survived by his beloved children, Laura Nowak of Lewiston, NY, Dora (Jameel) Poshni of Mississauga, Ont. and Charles Bifano of the Town of Niagara, NY. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren which were his pride and joy. To them he was their "Pa" – Nathan, son of Laura; Jill, Frank, Lisa, Brittany and Michael, children of Dora; and Charles and Samantha, children of Charles. Also left to mourn their loss are his loving brother, Anthony (Marguerite) Bifano of Delevan, NY; his mother-in-law, Kathleen (late George) Darby; his sister-in-law, Linda (late Paul Sr.) Facklam, both of Grand Island, NY and Cheryl (Darrell) Ingles of St. Catharines, Ontario; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Bifano was the former husband of Maria (Luciani) Bifano, the mother of his children. Jim's greatest legacy to his children and grandchildren was teaching them the importance of maintaining the closeness and love of the family. Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI and SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 28th at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, with the Rev.
