SMITH
VINCENT V.
Age 91, of Greensburg, died peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018, with his devoted wife and friends by his side. The son of the late Vencil and Virginia A. Reitz Smith, Vince was born October 2, 1926, in Pittsburgh, PA. His family soon after moved to Hillside, PA where Vince grew up. While still in high school at the age of 16, he signed up for the United States Army Air Corps. He graduated at 17 and went to work. When Vince turned 18, the Army contacted him to report for duty near Harrisburg. He then went to Sheppard Field, TX for basic training. From there he went to serve in France and Germany. He wanted to fly the planes but depth perception problems prevented him from becoming a pilot. After he was discharged from the Army, he came home and was missing Europe. He then returned to Germany for several years working for the Army as a civilian. Back in the United States, Vince became a successful businessman before he retired at age 80. Vince was strong, loyal, proud and fiercely competitive. Vince loved being in and running his own business. When the rest of the world was thinking of retiring, Vince was just getting started. He had fire and spunk in him up until the very end. He was a board member of the National Midas Dealers association and lifetime member of the American Legion. Vince's hobbies included motor yachting. He loved being on the water. He also enjoyed mentoring, reading, gardening, card playing, dancing, and traveling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Smith Ross; and a niece, Parece Smith. Vince is survived by his wife, Nancy Dupier Smith; his dog, Vincenza; a brother, Dwain Smith and his wife, Cricket of Latrobe; a sister, Phyllis Bridge, also of Latrobe; nephews, Kory Smith (Dayna), Robert Bridge, Jr. (Dacie); nieces, Dacie Bridge and Shanon Wilson (Rodger); great- niece, Rheagan Smith; children, Steven Rosensteel and his wife, Chinyere of Florida, Brian Rosensteel and his wife, Annette Villanueva of Florida, and Ariana Kelleter of Germany; grandchildren, Ashley, Shannon, Krystal, Steven, Jr., and Cynthia. Vince is also survived by many cousins. We're all going to miss you Vince! God Bless! Friends will be received at the OTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 805 Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Coles Cemetery, Derry. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 308 Second St., Irwin, PA 15642. For online condolences, please visit:
