Viola West Farnsworth 1942 ~ 2011 Viola West Farnsworth, sister, daughter, wife, mother, educator, designer, earth angel, and sage, passed away on January 23, 2011 in Orem, Utah in the embrace of her family - of a rare disease known as Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease.Viola was born to Roy and Geneva Rose Day West on October 17, 1942 in Provo, Utah. Her older siblings were Emerson, Rose Marie, and Sylvia. Eventually younger siblings, Stephen and Gloria joined the family. Viola maintained excellent relationships with parents and siblings. She attended schools in Salt Lake City, eventually graduating from East High School in 1961. She attended BYU, graduating with a bachelors degree in Speech and Drama in 1966. In 1975, she obtained a masters degree in Communicative Disorders - also from BYU. Viola was a member of the LDS Church, and held positions in the Young Women's organization. She loved the Lord with all her heart and served him by serving others. In November 1971 Viola met F. Dennis Farnsworth, Jr., and married him in the Salt Lake Temple the following March 31st. They loved, adored, and served each other and had a wonderful marriage. Friday nights were date nights, and few things were permitted to interfere! Viola is survived by her husband Dennis, son James Aaron (Tiffany Bullock), daughter Victoria Rose (Travis Stephens), and son Wayne McHenry (Mackenzie Hudson). Viola also has eight grandchildren, all of whom survive. She had a brilliant career as an educator in the Nebo School District and was admired and appreciated by all whose paths she crossed. Her students as well as her children and grandchildren call her blessed. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Timpanogos Memorial Gardens, 1000 North 400 East, Orem, Utah. A memorial service for family members and close friends following the graveside service will be held at the cultural hall of the LDS Church 2nd Ward Meeting house located at approximately 1090 North 400 East, Orem at about 1:00 p.m. on the same day, January 29, 2011. Dear Dennis and Family:
We were so sad to hear of the loss of your Viola. She was a wonderful woman and was such a good neighbor to us when we lived across the street from you in Orem. She taught me make molded mints, and taught me how to frost a cake w/o any crumbs getting in the frosting, and too many other things to list. Our prayers are with your family.

We are sad for the loss of your beloved wife and mother, and express our sincere and deepest sympathies. She was a remarkable and capable woman. She had the amazing ability to inspire you to be better than you are, just from being around her and conversing with her. We will miss her and know that she is in good hands until she can be reunited with her family and loved ones.

Dear Dennis, James, Victoria and Wayne,
My heart sank as I was given the news of Viola's passing. I'm so sorry for your loss and wish I had known she was ill so I could have come to bid her farewell. She is a remarkable and gifted person that brightened and cheered her environment but most of all the people who had the privledge of working with her. She is a golden thread in the tapestry of my life and I cherish my association with her and with your family. Love always & ever, Sandi & Nathan Lewis

I didn't know Viola, but the effect she had on an old friend, who happened to be her daughter-in- law, made it clear that she was a marvelous person. May your family find comfort and love in each other during this difficult time.
