Violet Alice Kirkwood Violet Alice (Rogers) passed away peacefully at Sherbrooke Community Centre on Monday, December 5, 2011 at the age of 96. Violet was dearly loved and will always be remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Son, David (Karen) of Edmonton and their daughters Lisa (Scott), Michelle and Kendra; Daughter, Marie of Saskatoon and her daughter Amanda (Dave); Daughter, Elaine (Don) Carlson of Meacham and their sons Brad (Shallyn), Derek (Alysha) and greatgrandchildren Lena and Blair; Son, Richard (Shelley) of Viscount and their children Braten (Tanya) and Ashlen; Son, Don of Saskatoon and his daughter Brandy (Jordan); Sister-in-law, Irene (Sherman) Myrah of Rivers, Manitoba; along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband Leslie in 2002, her parents John and Ellen Rogers, and her brother Reg Rogers. Violet was born April 18,1915 in London, England. She worked as a secretary in London prior to and during WWII, when she met and married Leslie, a tank driver with the Canadian Armed Forces on April 10, 1943. Leslie returned to Canada in December 1945 while Violet immigrated in April of 1946. They later took up farming by renting and eventually purchasing the Albert Lilldal farm and moved their house to Viscount in 1966. They continued to farm until retirement and moved to Saskatoon in 1996. Violet enjoyed gardening, knitting, card games, bus vacations, writing letters to her friends and relatives, cooking and baking. Her grandchildren were all very special to her and she loved to have them visit. She continued to live in her condo until December 2009 and remained living independently at Elim Lodge until August 2011, when she moved to Sherbrooke. Special thanks to Tracey, Regina and staff at House 4 for their care and compassion during her stay. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Park Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Viscount. Memorial donations may be made to Sherbrooke Community Centre or a charity of choice.
